Mechanical engineering majors are part of a dynamic field of study that engages students in a diverse range of activities including machine 设计 and analysis, product development, 环境 control, robotics and manufacturing. Pacific students are provided the broad technical knowledge and practical experience necessary to thrive in their careers and postgraduate studies.

In their profession, mechanical engineers understand form and function while knowing about the material properties that influence material selection. Their skills and vision transform concepts into tangible products that follow the principles of functional 设计. From jet engines to medical devices, mechanical engineers build products that support society.

The School of Engineering and Computer Science (SOECS) also offers a master’s degree in engineering 科学 with a concentration in mechanical engineering. Through our blended program, students can begin graduate course work during their senior year at Pacific and complete their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years.

The mechanical engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of 教唆, http://www.ABET.org, under the commission's General Criteria and Program Criteria for Mechanical Engineering 项目.

现任女友盛田昭夫 joined Professor JuEun Lee’s biomechanics lab as an undergraduate. 现在, working toward her master’s in mechanical engineering through Pacific’s dual-degree program, she’s been able to dive deeper into those topics as a graduate student re搜索er. She says the experience has inspired her to explore opportunities in the medical field: “I would love to work on medical devices or even product 设计...there’s kind of unlimited options, you know?”

Blended MSE option

Curriculum Overview

Mechanical Engineering Student Objectives
Through their careers in Mechanical Engineering or a related profession, Pacific BSME graduates are expected to demonstrate one or more of the following within a few years of earning their BSME:

Competence and/or leadership via promotion to positions of increasing responsibility, 出版物, and/or conference presentations;
Adaptability to new developments in 科学 and technology by successfully completing or pursuing graduate education in engineering and related fields, or participating in professional development and/or industrial training courses;
Creativity and innovation in engineering and technology through participation in activities such as re搜索, 设计, intellectual property development, and/or entrepreneurial endeavors;

Pacific BSME graduates are also expected to demonstrate an awareness of humanistic, 社会, and 环境 issues through involvement in local, 国家, and/or global activities.

Student outcomes required to achieve Mechanical Engineering Program Educational Objectives:
